Lisbon’s Beyond Vision raises over €28 million to scale AI drones for civilian and defence markets

Published on October 22, 2026

Beyond Vision, a Lisbon-based manufacturer of unmanned aerial systems and vehicles (drones), announced today the completion of an investment round of over €28 million.

The round was co-led by Índico Capital Partners and Lince Capital, with a follow-on investment from ActiveCap, a shareholder since 2024. The company plans to use this fresh capital to scale industrial production capacity, accelerate technological development in AI and swarm capacity, and expand the company’s international presence in the defence and critical infrastructure sectors.

“In critical sectors such as defence, infrastructure management, and security, the reliance on cutting-edge, reliable, and sovereign technology is now a strategic priority for many countries. Beyond Vision has redefined this market by combining high-precision hardware with advanced artificial intelligence algorithms at a very competitive cost. This investment will give Beyond Vision the financial robustness needed to scale production and compete globally in important segments of autonomous unmanned vehicles,” said Stephan de Moraes, Managing General Partner of Índico Capital Partners.

Founded in 2013 and led by Dário Pedro (CEO) and Luís Miguel Campos (Chairman), Beyond Vision specialises in dual-use advanced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms. The company focuses on developing diverse collaborative autonomous systems with AI capabilities, providing innovative solutions across sectors.

The company says it recognised the potential of the autonomous unmanned vehicle sector early on and began developing drones powered by AI algorithms and cloud-based management platforms to meet growing demand for these solutions.

It claims that its drones quickly gained recognition for their quality, and the company became an officially registered NATO supplier and won numerous awards.

The Portuguese company notes that it integrates multiple parallel communication systems and AI into its aircraft, optimising their capabilities for a wide range of applications, both in the civil and military sectors. Its cloud-based platform for remote drone control, beXStream, leverages AI and automation to optimise operations.

Pedro said, “The capital raised in this round will be applied in several areas. First, Beyond Vision will strengthen its operational infrastructure and scale its industrial production capacity to meet the growing global demand for autonomous systems. In parallel, the company will accelerate investment in Research and Development (R&D), deepening the integration of advanced Artificial Intelligence algorithms and new functionalities in its cloud management platform.

“Finally, the funds will allow it to consolidate its commercial expansion into new international markets, strengthening its presence in the defence, security, and critical infrastructure monitoring sector.”

The company reported that it grew its team to 150 employees, exceeded its estimated 2025 revenue, and expanded its list of military and civilian clients across several countries, strengthening its market position. In July this year, it announced a partnership with AVP (Aero Voo de Portugal) to represent them commercially in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

In 2025, Beyond Vision signed a €15 million contract in the US to supply 300 emergency drones by 2028. The Portuguese company also plans to open a US factory in 2027, with a €50 million investment.

This investment aims to prepare the company for global scalability as demand for its civilian and defence solutions grows exponentially, Beyond Vision remarked.
