Former international boxer’s LegalTech startup EstateMin raises €1 million to scale in the US

EstateMin, an Irish-founded LegalTech startup helping trust and estate law firms manage estate values with its AI-powered platform, has secured €1 million in pre-Seed funding.

The funding round saw participation from NDRC, First Port Syndicate, and Enterprise Ireland, which invested through its High Potential Startup-Up programme. Angel investors Mike Hanrahan, Moira McKenna, and Conor Stanley also participated alongside other Irish angels.

“The real benefit for our clients is how much easier EstateMin makes it to get us information. Executors and family members can complete their intake right from the portal, on their own time, instead of juggling calls and paperwork during an already difficult process. That means their matter moves faster and they spend less time chasing us for updates,” said James Greenwood of Greenwood Law in Illinois.

Founded in Ireland in 2024 and now headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, EstateMin was built to solve a problem its co-founder and CEO, Isabella Hughes, experienced firsthand. A law graduate and former international boxer, Hughes spent time working as a legal executive, manually retyping client information into legal documents, a time-consuming process that she describes as unnecessary.

To solve this problem, she teamed up with Oisín Dolphin, a machine learning expert with over eight years of experience, who was drawn to the same problem after going through probate following the death of his father. The two met at an NDRC founder weekend at Dogpatch Labs in 2024. John Noonan, who brings more than four years of experience across product and consumer success at legal technology company Clio, subsequently joined as the third co-founder.

“What Oisín was describing was something I was doing every day. You don’t necessarily question it when it’s simply part of your job. Then somebody points out that you’re taking information a client has already provided and typing it all over again, and suddenly you realise how much time is being lost,” said Hughes, co-founder and CEO of EstateMin.

EstateMin’s AI-powered platform helps attorneys manage estate planning, estate administration and trust matters by digitising client intake, organising estate information, extracting data from documents and supporting form preparation. Its AI Case Reviewer scans files to flag missing fields, inconsistencies, or additional forms needed before a submission is finalised.

The platform integrates with existing legal case management systems, including Clio, and the company says it can become operational in about two minutes with minimal configuration. The platform is already helping trust and estate law firms manage more than €686 million ($770 million) in estate values across 777 matters.

Law firms reportedly save five to seven hours on each estate planning matter and five to ten hours on estate administrations. The platform is active across all 50 US states, and EstateMin is reporting 20% month-on-month revenue growth.

The journey to this point hasn’t been easy, with Hughes recounting a pivotal moment where they had to decide between the US and the UK. After initially building for Irish law firms and seeing slower adoption than expected, Hughes said they didn’t have the money to try everywhere and choose between the UK or take the bigger risk and expand to America.

“The response we’d had in New York was completely different, so we decided to go for it,” she explained.

The pre-Seed funding is earmarked for customer acquisition in the US, scaling EstateMin’s go-to-market operations, and expanding its engineering and product teams. The company has already hired two software engineers and added US business development capacity as part of its US push.

“EstateMin started with a very simple problem: why are highly trained legal professionals spending so much time retyping information? We’ve gone from working on that problem in Dogpatch Labs to building specifically for firms across America. Now we want to see how far we can take it,” Hughes added.
