British payments unicorn Zilch invests €91 million in larger London headquarters amid continued growth
Zilch, the British intelligent payments unicorn with 6 million customers, has today announced it is committing €91 million (£77 million) to double its London office capacity with a move to a significantly larger headquarters in Victoria.
This comes off the back of a €150 million debt and equity raise back in November in 2025 – as covered by EU-Startups.
The move will see Zilch take over floors four and five of 40 Grosvenor Place, a 33,160sq ft space that can accommodate more than 400 employees. The investment will go towards a 10-year lease as the business continues to scale its operations and plans to create more jobs in the UK.
Philip Belamant, co-founder and CEO of Zilch, says: “It has been a transformational year for the business with a number of significant milestones, and our customers moving beyond £8 billion of spend across every region in the UK.
“As we continue to expand rapidly, our new headquarters reflect the scale of our ambition and the momentum behind our growth. This is an important investment in Zilch’s future, giving our team an incredible base to attract exceptional talent at home and beyond. We are proud to be investing further in the UK as we enter the next phase of growth.”
Zilch’s headquarters investment comes amid financing activity across European consumer credit and payments in 2026.
According to EU-Startups’ coverage, fellow UK companies Primer raised €86.2 million to develop its AI-powered payments infrastructure, Vuelo secured €64 million for its travel financing platform, and Plend obtained a credit facility of up to €58.3 million.
Elsewhere, Barcelona-based ID Finance secured €545 million in debt and equity to expand its Plazo consumer finance platform, while Madrid-based BCAS raised €30 million for flexible education financing.
Together with the €83 million secured by London-based Sokin and Manchester-based Ryft’s €23 million Series B, these announcements represent approximately €889.5 million in disclosed financing and credit facilities during 2026.
This data paints the FinTech sector, especially the UK FinTech sector, to be a rich and highly active ecosystem – providing context for Zilch’s competition and growth.
City Minister Rt Hon Lucy Rigby KC MP adds: “This is a major milestone for Zilch and it’s brilliant to see their continued success. The UK is a FinTech powerhouse and I’m committed to backing the sector to thrive and grow.”
Founded in 2018, Zilch is an intelligent payments platform, combining debit, credit, instalments, earned wage access, credit building, deals and rewards.
The new headquarters is the latest announcement in a period of growth for Zilch, including the acquisition of Fjord Bank (announced back in January 2026), which is expected to complete in the first half of 2027 and will lay the foundation of its European expansion, a multi-year strategic partnership with Visa and becoming Arsenal FC’s Official Way to Pay.
